The Federation for Informatics Professionals (Fed-IP) brings together professional bodies and societies from across the informatics field. Its purpose is to pull communities together, support one another, and build shared professional standards.
Ultimately, its aim is to support health and care through the best use of information and technology.
Fed-IP, as an idea, was conceived through discussions with BCS, CILIP, IHRIM, Socitm and UKCHIP on how best to support to informatics professionals in their journey to transform Health and Care services through the use of information and technology. In 2016, UKCHIP formerly closed its register to allow for Fed-IP to be established as the professional register for informaticians working in health and care.
The founding members of Fed-IP are:
- BCS – The Chartered Institute of IT
- CILIP – The Library and Information Association
- IHRIM – The Institute of Health Records and Information Management
- Socitm – The Society for IT practitioners in the public sector
